Museum Tour of Rajasthan Along With Famous Forts & Palaces
The heritage of Rajasthan and its old colorful culture are preserved in vast network of Museums. Rajasthan is dotted with architectural forts and palaces. Museums of Rajasthan form the most popular archaeological sites as they preserve the evidence of the brilliance of the architecture of old days. Ajmer Government Museum: This Museum in Rajasthan is situated in the heart of the old city of Ajmer and close to the railway station. The museum is inside the beautiful fort built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar.
The Archaeological museum in Jaipur is one of the known museums in Rajasthan. This museum is located in the Dil-e-Aaram Gardens. In July 1949 the entire collection of the museum was transferred to Dil-e-Aaram Garden, a part of the old palace at Amer. An Art Gallery was inaugurated in 1992 in this complex.
The Magazine Museum was once the residence of Prince Salim, son of the Emperor Akbar, and presently houses a collection of the Mughal and Rajput armour and sculpture.
Albert Hall Museum: This museum is supposed to be the oldest museum of the state. This museum is positioned amidst the gardens of Ram Niwas Bagh in Jaipur. The museum has a collection of rare articles on its display including textiles, carpets, paintings, metal and wood crafts, pottery, arms and weapons, flora and fauna of the state. It is also known for housing the famous carpet, which portrays the scene of a Persian garden carpet with running water streams that was bought at a dear price from Shah Abbas of Persia, by Mirza Raja Jai Singh I. It also puts on show the miniature paintings of a number of sub-schools of Rajasthan.
Fateh Prakash Palace Museum: Fateh Prakash Palace Museum, Chittorgarh is located inside Chittorgarh Fort. It has a large collection of sculptures. Amongst them, a significant one is the statue of Ganpati from Pangarh that was built during 8-9th century. Some other notable ones are the Indra and Jain Ambica statues from Rashmi village that are testimony to the post medieval period. Inside this museum many weapons, daggers, and armory are displayed.
Fort Museum: This Fort museum in Bikaner contains a fine collection of antique Rajput, weaponry, jade handle daggers, camel hide and inlaid handguns and camel guns. It is inside the famous Junagarh Fort.
