What do you mean by ring? A finger band worn as a type of jewellery ornament around the finger is common meaning for ring. Ring is an ornament which is worn by both Male and Female. Ring can be made from many metals such as white & yellow gold, silver, platinum and many other metal. The wearing of finger rings of various materials takes you to the ancient cultures. There have always been spiritual merits about them, from early cultures up to the present day traditions of engagement and wedding rings. In Western culture, the traditional for wearing of an engagement ring or wedding ring is the fourth finger. Which hand wears the ring depends on the country, with orthodox countries using the right hand and others using the left hand.
Signet ring is a ring which designates dignity; the ring looks quite elegant on the little finger and a little bit more emphatic on the forefinger. Signet rings had designs in them unique to the wearer, who was usually a member of the nobility or ruling class. Normally a signet ring, the male jewellery item was used to seal official documentation. The male signet ring was initially iron but was later produced in gold, silver and platinum as it displayed status and wealth more clearly. In many secret societies Signet ring is used as a social identity. The members of these secret societies wear this ring the wrong way round so that no outsider could see the symbol. Many universities, club and organizations design their own signet ring for the same purpose. The wearing of signet ring in different figure indicates some meaning, if you wear a ring in thumb it indicates sexuality of a man, in forefinger it indicates the ability of a man, in middle finger it shows the man's influence that he is handsome, wedding finger tells for itself and in little figure it indicates the creative temperament of a man. Sometimes the design impresses into the material of the ruling itself. Signet rings are mentioned in the bible, and are used right up to the present day.
